HIMYM on Inside The Actor’s Studio

HIMYM fans, are you feeling a little lost this Tuesday? Last night was the first Monday night since the finale, and many of us are missing the gang a whole lot. It doesn’t really matter if you loved or hated the finale – you just can’t help but wish for a few more minutes with your favorite TV companions.

If you haven’t already watched the Inside the Actor’s Studio with the cast of How I Met Your Mother , now is the perfect time! It’s set right before the finale, so we can avoid all of that messy divorce/death business and just focus on the happy days when Barney and Robin were in love and Ted was yet to meet Tracy.

Here’s the link to watch it:

(There are related videos on that page that cover most of the show)

Have you watched it yet? I can wait while you do, no problem…

Okay, if you’re back I assume you watched, or you just want the highlights without taking the time to see the whole thing. I’m happy to oblige!

Best Moments:

Hearing the gang cuss! The actors all had moments in character, and it was so oddly wonderful to hear them use language that CBS doesn’t allow. Of course Lily would say fuck and Barney would say dick and Robin would call Ted a pussy. It makes perfect sense for their characters but we never got to see much of that type of conversation before (excluding the grinch incident, of course). Cobie got so deep into character that she seemed honestly surprised when Josh mentioned her calling him a pussy afterwards.

Marshall reacting to James Lipton’s questions about the paranormal…he knows it’s all real because he’s seen it with his “pair-a-normal eyes”.

Neil Patrick Harris taking a minute to FaceTime with his little ones and say goodnight. SO SWEET.

Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris do a rousing rendition of “Confrontation” from Les Mis.

When asked if they ever indulged in sandwiches, Lily replied “Yeah! We get hungry!”

Overall it was just awesome seeing the transformations from actors to characters. Jason Segel gets an entirely different, super enthusiastic look on his face, while Josh Radnor perfectly slips into Ted’s tone of voice and mannerisms in a heartbeat. It was really fun witnessing how they embody their on-screen doppelgänger so quickly and effectively.

The gifs below will give you a good sense of all the fun, but they still don’t do the video justice. It felt like the resolution that the finale didn’t really offer us. Emotionally speaking I mean. There’s no new plot information or anything like that, just an honest sense of closure for these people who have meant so much to us. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! The only downside is that there’s no Cristin Millioti/The Mother/Tracy….so in that sense it’s just like the entire series, ya know?

  1. This cheered me up last night so I thought you all might enjoy it as well :)

  2. This comment is so I get an email alert if any of you comment…hopefully you do :)

  3. Corina, you put a smile on my face. Thanks, I did see part of this before the show aired. But I have not gone back and watched the entire panel discussion. IT was very well narrated. He drew out the best of the actors. It makes me feel like the show is still running out there somewhere. As much as I hate shows that leave the future open. I hated it that they closed this one down.

Now that was a terrible statement. You see this show was just that different for me. I guess I made it more that just a show at times.

    • You’re not the only one. I miss it terribly…I’m doing a little better with it this week than last though. Toward the end of the week last week I was nearly to tears as silly as it sounds. It’s about all we talked about last week.

  4. There were only short clips on 1 minute each. Is the full show available somewhere?

    • The YouTube videos keep going up and getting taken down. So if you can catch a newly created one there is your ticket. Otherwise I am not sure where the original is at the moment.

      • This is a pain in the ass. I tried to post a clip from HIMYM (Desperation Day, ) in my own blog on Valentines Day, and although it was posted so it’s visible in U.S. it was blocked in EU, so no matter how I linked and even tried to convert from my own files and upload on YouTube, it got blocked. To get around the bloody problem I had to store it on my private storage and include it from there.
And totally idiotic, as tidbit clips as that (I think it was slightly over 1 minute) isn’t anything but good marketing for the show.
This kind of thinking from the networks and companies annoys me no end, and I do not understand it. I run across it quite often that I can not see clips as I’m in the wrong part of the world. Now I do have a VPN service, so I just switch my connection point and get around the problem, so for me personally it doesn’t really matter, but my VPN doesn’t help a bit when I want to share it with others. And who looses on this idiocy, none more than the networks and producers themselves.

        • Glad you could vent it all out. It is a controll of information and decemination problem we are facing more and more on the web.

      • It is available in it’s entirety on Kickass Torrents. :)

  5. I am a bit behind (because I don’t actually want HIMYM to be over) in the show. I am in the middle of Season 9 right now, and I’ve spent most of my nights this weeks watching the rest of the season. I must say, this is not my favorite season. I think the previous seasons were more funny and entertaining. So far all I’ve been watching is their time spent in the hotel before Barney and Robin’s wedding. However, I still LOVE watching the show. I’m really sad that the I am slowly coming to the end of How I Met Your Mother. I will ALWAYS reference the show and think of the 5 hilarious friends from New York City.
